Confession time!
I have read somewhere that when you give up one addiction you pick up another.  You know those people who quit smoking but start chewing gum or eating M&Ms uncontrollably?  That's sort of my life.  I pick up hobbies like Angelina Jolie adopts kids.  As soon as I settle into one, I pick up another.  Let's see, I make hair bows, customise my clothes, and shoes, obsess over hair styles, makeup, drawing, crafts and ... nail varnish.  I fell off the wagon.  I had stopped collecting polishes and kept my toes done and clear on my hands, but I've been bit!  I hauled all of those at the right in one sitting.  But, they were on sale!  A store called Long's has to clear out, so their loss=my gain.  That's the only thing that's been opportunistic of me.  The stores are shutting down in this town left and right.  I see people holding signs about liquidations on every other corner, and while it used to depress me, now I find myself with a "What can I gain from this?" attitude.  I'm taking notes of things I've been meaning to buy but haven't gotten to yet and I've almost sealed a deal on a chest of drawers :)

Another Addiction!

Confession time! I have read somewhere that when you give up one addiction you pick up another.  You know those people who quit smoking but...

Cherubs,
I got a glimpse of Essie's Breast Cancer Awareness limited edition for 2009's Cancer Awareness whilst perusing Amazon. In keeping with the political climate this color is named "Yes We Can!" not that President Obama had anything to do with this line, it's moreso keeping with the, fight to eradicate breast cancer, one of the top leading causes of death for women which is sadly occuring at a younger age each year.
Product Description:
Essie Cosmetics, supports Breast Cancer Awareness with yes we can, pink! - soft, sheer pink specially created to commemorate 2009 Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of sales will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer whose mission is to empower all women affected by breast cancer to have the best quality of life.
It retails for $8.00 USD and since part of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Awareness, I don't mind making the purchase. Besides, one can never have enough pink ;)
The product will be available on October 1, 2009.

Hello Felines,
As summer approaches quite rapidly, it's high time we get our mani's and pedi's sorted. If your a fan of bright colours, you may find the collection by O.P.I called "Bright Pair" to be for you.
Here is the color story:
No room for the blues-This is a vivid blue in denim-ite!
On the Same Paige-You'll agree this orange-red is jean-ious!
Over the Taupe-An outrageously appealing shad of "lush"-room.
Shorts Story-Hot pink. The end.
A Grape Fit-This rich purple was made for you.
In my Back Pocket-A bright orange you won't want to tuck away.

Each lacquer is .5 oz and depending on your location, runs about $9.00 USD.

Have a lovely start of the week!

B.P.

Hello again,

I have to remember to post dupe alerts as soon as it hits my brain, otherwise I will forget or think I posted it, and forgot.

I know many of us were terribly disappointed we were not able to get the nail lacquer from the Sugarsweet Collection in Peppermint Patti. The mint green color is really nice for the spring and though it's a bit on the opaque blue/green, it's a muted color so it's not too common. A few people have compared it to China Glaze's For Audrey, but there's a bit more blue in the China Glaze.

I went to Cosmprof and looked at a few colors and think O.P.I.'s Hey! Get in Lime! is the closest match I have seen thus far. You can Google, the two and look for images and compare for yourself, but it's close enough and I believe you will save a few dollars in the process.

Have a beautiful day!

Hello Gorgeous,
I am still working through the bloomin winter woes, as I refer to them; however, I am dedicated to keeping you lot apprised of all things beautiful.
Recently, my obsession for makeup has branched off to another form of beauty. I have always been a diligent feline about my paws. I have cult faves for moisturising my skin which, this time of year, seems more necessary than usual. So, what's my addiction? Nail Art! I happened to be watching a lovely YouTube fave and noticed her nails. They were the most beautiful claws a cougar could want. The length was purrfect, the paws *cough hands cough* were long and slender and ever so purrfect.
In the course of purchasing my hair conditioner I noticed the brand China Glaze was next to O.P.I and the sales assistant stated she preferred the China Glaze over O.P.I. When I asked her if it was just the price she indicated the price was a factor; however, the base coat was more important to the longevity of natural claws as opposed to those with artificial coating of any sort (i.e. silk, acrylic, fiberglass, etc.) and if I had a good base I would be happy with China Glaze.
So...I purchased the China Glaze and they were buy two get one free and still less than a bottle of O.P.I. *YAHOO* I love a bargain!!!
Quite naturally, I wasn't satisfied and my constant thinking brain did not shut off for a moment. Less than a block away there was another beauty product store, and with my discount it would be a tad more, but I just had to do a comparison. So I got one of the French editions which is a dupe of the China Glaze. The result were correct! I got more mileage out of the China Glaze and it's still not chipped one week forward.
I still wasn't done though. I had to do more research and read tons of blogs and makeup boards and then watched a lovely gal, Iamgrape1119 on YouTube and I'm happy to report China Glaze is now a black panther approved product!

Stay strong, fierce and beautiful,

B.P.
