I don't know how those who are in the "know" in the beauty blogging and advertising world handle it. Seriously, I am by no means an expert or even on the radar of high profile beauty bloggers and every morning at least, no exaggeration, 15 emails are about the "next best _______." Seriously, I think e.l.f. have me on a hourly list of emails which come to the same address but are addressing me in various manners. I'm not blaming them, I'm the ~~idiot~~ one who signs up for these things. Why? Discounts of course!

In my defence, this stuff is really getting out of hand. I need another primer like I need a whole in my head.

For example, you know how brands have primers in shades to counter facial discolouration. Green for redness, purple for yellow or sallowness...? Well, Stila has an all inclusive primer. How ~~the fuck~~ on earth does Stila's primer "magically" know what to correct? Can the primer see my skin? Does it detect where the redness is, where I need brightening? My skin is black, will I walk about looking like one big bulb? Seriously, how does this primer know my face from yours? Not to mention my skin is temperamental, I may wake up with no issues and then by noon, I'm developing a planet. Here's what Stila has to say:

I'm not saying I don't appreciate products which are innovative and cutting edge. My question is, "Why do we need products, for products to do what they are designed to do?" If I buy a foundation that says it will give me a flawless finish, or a matte finish why would I need to buy their primer as well? I know, to prime the skin well, that would mean you have a skin cleansing system. I'm sure there is a cleanser or something to help eradicate my ruddiness right?

It's a dog eat dog business beauty is. I'm just disgusted at how many fads, trends, and the amount of shit stuff I've accumulated just to look "pretty" and feel good about myself. I'm a marketing teams dream. I know I won't be a supermodel tomorrow and that these things are 90% hype, but...what's a girl to do?

I guess it's true a picture is worth a thousand words. Or, $22.00 in this case. I compulsively had to have Kitten Smudge pot to add to my never ending no pan in sight liner/base/paint-pots, etc.
Well, I was on MakeupAlley doing some research and someone posted the question about Kitten being similar to Bare Study. I ignored it, so I thought, but in the back of my mind, I realized I couldn't shake the similarities and realized I had a similar color in Benefit's creaseless creme shadows as well. Sure enough, the only difference is that Kitten is a bit more pink champagne as opposed to gold champagne. Unless you are an absolute fundamental Stila fanatic, you do not need this shadow/liner/base if you already own Bare Study by MAC. I don't know my color in MAC but here is a swatch. Hope this is good for someone :)

And I love Stila and Barbie right now! I called and drove all over town to get these babies and I am tired, hungry, hot a little irritated and yet I got my goods!
The pictures are not doing these justice; however, it's almost 10 pm and there is no light to be found other than the fluorescent in my cave.
I will do swatches tomorrow morning when I rise or pack them and take a few shots at lunch. The reason I don't bother is there is no request and I don't feel the need to swatch for phantoms. I guess it's reminiscent of the time I held a giveaway and no one responded so I sold the makeup. I don't want to set myself up to fail again, so I keep this small and if I find I have these in duplicates, I will give them as gifts. I did touch the items and play with them at ULTA and the smudgepots can be applied sheer or buildable. So, if you want the color you see, use an angle brush and dip and drag if you wish.
As for the eyeshadows, they are so incredible pigmented. They are more pigmented than any shadow I have owned with an honorable mention given to TIGI palettes I spoke of some time ago.

Bloggers and beauty afficiando's are all a buzz about Stila's launch of their own Barbie line. Unfortunatley, it pales in comparison to Barbie loves MAC, but much of that has to do with marketing of products. MAC has a cult like following due to the availability, target audience, variety of colors and hip and innovative marketing which have featured: Diana Ross, Eve, Fergie, Elton John, Pink, and the list goes on.
Stila is better in terms of eyeshadow quality, more hits than misses, but can't seem to get the diversity in color and don't cater to women of color for foundations. MAC wins hands down in that competition. A cat can't have everything.
The Barbies are the glamorous #1 Ponytail Doll, the girl next door Malibu Doll, the everyday girl Jewell Doll, and the token, African American Foxy Doll, all of which retail at $40.00 USD.
Stila has some amazing sales and you can always find discounts at beauty crunch. What I find really cool on their site is the "Girl of the Week." I love reading about what people like about makeup, how they wear it, and the age, colour and location of all the selected women is genious.
I think you should have a go at it Stila Girl. What have you got to lose? You are just as good as the others and if not, have a look at the past winners, selected on a weekly basis.
