I have to confess I've got loads of products due to "bandwagoning."*

Definition of BANDWAGON*
1: a usually ornate and high wagon for a band of musicians especially in a circus parade
2: a popular party, faction, or cause that attracts growing support —often used in such phrases as jump on the bandwagon
3: a current or fashionable trend

after six hours of wear

I've stated I am just like you.  I read glossies, watch telly, peruse forums, blogs and am trying to avoid YouTube.  So, I'm avoiding product purchase by reviewing the items I did purchase for review.  The products I have I buy, even for my kit.  They may be discounted, but I don't obtain products from any outside sources.  I do get testers whilst shopping, but with the enormous amount of makeup I feel gluttonous if I accept anything as I cannot think of one brand I don't have at least one thing from.  Please don't judge.  I donate to the shelters, I've tried to do giveaways (no one responded) and I have no little sisters and my colleagues either don't fancy makeup or they are in the same predicament.
I purchased Chanel Mat Lumiere in Walnut.  I kept watching the Chapman sisters rave about Vital Lumiere and felt I wanted to try this brand and when I enquired about oily/combo skin, Sam was kind enough to respond in kind stating Chanel do one for oily skin.

It is supposed to offer 12 hour shine free medium coverage. While I did love the finish, and the look of my skin, I had oil within 4 hours.  I did blot my skin with a tissue twice, but I cannot say this worked for keeping my skin oil free.  I did experiment prior to posting the results.  I tried it one week without a primer.  Results? Still oily.  I tried one week with an oil free primer.  Still need for blotting.  I chose to double my water intake and use a mattifying suncream and was oily.  I don't think the product is to blame, rather the marketing.  Fortunately, Macy's will accept returns and I wrote my experience.  Do I feel it will work?  No, because marketing is what gets the company to sell products and most people won't take the time to give feedback, but instead not repurchase.

Overall, I won't recommend this for people expecting an oil free finish.  I do recommend this for the overall look of the product.  It goes on very smooth and it didn't feel heavy, nor was a nervous about touching my face and then having transference.  I wash my hands frequently, but nothing worse than giving a hug and having left makeup on the other person.  Additionally, it's steep in price and I find Revlon Color Stay equally good with more color options.  I hope this helps, and unfortunately, darker skinned lovelies outside of the US will have a harder time getting a good match. :(  Good luck!

So...I know I have tried every foundation under the sun.  No pun intended, but I want my skin but a little less blotchy.  Now, that picture is from IMAN and I had watched her do an application for a girl with brown skin and gold/honey undertones such as mine.  The women in the photo are as diverse as the women in the book and who modeled on the QVC show that I got sucked into watched.  I am a huge sucker follower of Iman as she was one of the first black women who appeared in campaign ads for cosmetics long before Queen Latifah, Hallie Berry, Eva Longoria, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Gabrielle.  So, being the fool consumer I am, I ordered a few products.  (Picture not shown for fear of humiliation) Decent price and the application lighting was superb.  Now, I have to send it all back.  I read that the acidic level of oily skinned girls is quite high so I asked about the titanium dioxide, talc, and other ingredients to ensure I was stoopid wise in my selection.  Absolute.Fail.Coming.
I got my box and was happy!  I had gotten bang on matches and in the mirror I looked good, I followed my morning routine, and when I got to work all was well.  I used the blot powder in med/light throughout the day making sure I blotted my face with tissue first so all the oils were blotted and it's simply cleaner than adding another layer of cakemix powder on your face.  I didn't like that this stuff seemed to transfer A LOT, but it's dark because, I'm dark.  I'd glance in the mirror and seemed to look cute so all was well.  So, after lunch, I went to the ladies room to wash up and retouch. *insert shrill* My face was ORANGE not darker, but ORANGE !!! I was mortified.  I know shit foundation oxidizes, I covered that with the bitch woman on the phone.  So... I walked back to my office *walk of shame* and stayed in my cubicle for the rest of the day.  I prayed I didn't get called into any meetings or have to attend a hearing at the Capitol.  What's more, I work with some arrogant good looking men who are well groomed.  When you look good you have swagger feel good, so I was in everyone's face.  Well God don't like me ugly.  So, I got what I deserved.  I didn't give this the six week run before posting, this happened yesterday and my feelings are hurt in tact.  I am sending it back.  I passed the Cover Girl Queen display and they ALL had red undertones, so I passed on those, so I'll continue throwing money away my search for a foundation but this one gets an "F" from me.

Well...Revlon and most drug stores are really stepping up their game in order to remain competitive against high end cosmetics.  I must admit Revlon has been quite impressive.  I like that Colorstay kicked MAC's Studio Fix Fluid butt, but (no pun intended) now it's gone after Make Up Forever's HD.  Unfortunately it doesn't quite make the full cut.  The only reason is, Revlon doesn't offer the same level of color schemes for most women.  Revlon display's its available in nine shades - 002 Vanilla, 003 Shell, 004 Nude, 005 Natural Beige, 006 Medium Beige, 007 Cool Beige, 008 Golden Beige, 009 Rich Ginger, and 010 Cappucino.  I wish they had caramel, but since it really isn't schedule for launch until March 2010, I can't fault Revlon.  I purchased it at CVS for $13.99 and it was buy one get one free so that's about $7.00 and change.  I had to mix Rich Ginger and Cappucino to get caramel (top/middle).  It has a pump which I love, and goes on sheer but is buildable.  Some have reported a sheen, however, I didn't find that to be the case with me.  I haven't worn it enough to compare it to Color Stay and I love Color Stay a lot.  It didn't make my pores look huge, nor was it oily.  I have concern over the SPF in that this is sold as "Photo Ready" and the SPF is what gives the gray cast.  I'll take more pics tomorrow.  Here are the ingredients:
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: titanium dioxide 1.1%, zinc oxide 2.0%

I know the YouTube market has been inundated with products with promises to do everything but
take you to work every morning. Alas, I open my inbox and there it is.  For a mere $16.95 plus shipping and handling you get an ounce of this High Definition foundation.  I think it's a great deal if it works.  However, if it's something wholesale, simply repackaged then I can't say I'd stop using my current foundation.  My quest for the holy grail of foundations.
In my opinion, this stuff is not quite up to par for my idea of high definition due to the ingredients.  There are a lot of "cones" and it has titanium dioxide, which means it will have a grey cast in flash photography.  So, if you are interested, please go to Coastal Scents and read more.  I believe they will answer questions and offer a forum for those interested in learning more.  Good luck, and report back if you happen to make a purchase.  Something tells me I will be seeing reviews and videos about this soon.

One  more day!!! I get a new computer and can blog it all out!  *Happy Dance* In some ways it's been cool not to access the world wide web.  For instance, I spend more time getting out and about and having a "real life."  Week one, I loathed going home.  No blogs to read, no forums to peruse, no YouTube, just silence.  By week two, I was reading all the books I had set aside, and by the third week, I was about taking pictures of people, places, and windowshopping.  The world is really cool when you look at it from the lense of a camera. I'm no photographer, but some of the simplest things become so amazing.  Like architecture, rustic buildings, squirrels, flowers and the elements have a different element to them.  You see them quite different.  In addition, going to cosmetics counters in person as opposed to blogs and forums is quite interesting.  There arae so many beautiful women of various ethnicities, ages, skin tones and I found so many different ideas and experimented with products I had never touched.  Well, big thumbs down for Giorgio Armani...boo, hiss, I'm so upset.  This is one of the leaders in the fashion industry so, quite naturally I would be interested in their cosmetics.  But, unforutunately they don't have foundation in my skin tone??? What the frack is that all about?  I mean, the last I looked it was 2009 and black women are some of the consumers which keep this billion dollar industry in the black (pun intended).  No matter what's going on in my world, I was told as a child to make sure if I only had one outfit, make sure it was clean and pressed and if I could not do my face right, to have one lipstick that would flatter me.  I think it's sad that both women quite pale, and those who are darker are hard pressed to find a foundation to match our skin tone.  We exist, our money spends the same, and guess what, we aren't diminishing in number, we are learning more about how to emphasize our God given beauty and we'd like to get in on the action.  I felt more sorry for the sales assistant who took me to Chanel and still couldn't match me.  I'm not very dark, but I applaud those companies who do realize they have a demographic who would love to purchase their products.  End rant!

Whilst shopping my stash I came across a product I purchased at ULTA quite some time ago called Amazing Concealer by Amazing Cosmetics.  I am embarrassed to admit I cannot remember how much I paid for it, but it was new at the time and only came in the large size.  Currently, it runs about $42.00 USD for the large and $28.00 USD for the small size.
I love this concealer and don't know why I stopped using it.  In fact, I didn't use it simply for a concealer, I used it as a foundation as well.  The texture is not thick, but it's not runny either.  Think of when you squeeze a bit of gel for your hair onto your palm...that's the consistency.  It's that perfect mixture.  It's opaque so make sure you match yourself properly otherwise you will look sick or "off."
A little does go a long way, and this works well for oily skinned ladies like me who also worry about fading, or creasing.  I haven't tried it with a primer; although I can't imagine it having a negative effect.  I wore this today and a co-worker asked if I had on no makeup.  I lied and said, "Yes, why?" and he said, "You look pretty and sweet today."  That's guy speak for my makeup looks better simple than when I wear my over the top eyeshadow combinations.  Oh well, can't please them all.  Yes, I looked him right in the eye and lied.  What?

Hey Dollfaces,

I am happy it's almost Friday, and that's always good. I wound up selling my camera on eBay, happy it sold fast, but in other news...
I did an experiment with Revlon Colorstay Foundation for combination/oily skin. I have the oiliest T-zone that I should have called this blog T-zone because that sums up my makeup experience in one word. Never mind.
I have had this bottle in Caramel for half a year or so, but have been dabbling in all of these new releases from high end brands such as MUFE, Bobbi, Stila, MAC, et al, and read a review about this product on Epinions. So, I gave myself one week to sport this and see how it agrees to my sensitive, oily and quick to break out skin.
The product claims it will "stay for 16 hours" but I did have to blot my face throughtout the day and I never wear makeup for sixteen hours, not ever as I like to wash my face and rarely do I wear foundation during my work week.
The good thing about this, it doesn't rub off. Each time I blot my face I did a sneak peak to see how much foundation would transfer to the napkin and I had very minimal. Not that I am a huggy person, as I am not, but I don't like my foundation to transfer to clothes.
In addition, I might have to say I like this foundation more than the Studio Sculpt as it didn't irritate my skin. If you have the opportunity to get to a drugstore during a Revlon buy one get one free, I would recommend having one of these in lieu of your everyday foundation.

Stay positively fierce,

Foundation Rave

Hey Dollfaces, I am happy it's almost Friday, and that's always good. I wound up selling my camera on eBay, happy it sold fast, but...

I am so sorry about my week long absence; however, I have been learning how to edit my youtube tutorials, organizing my stash, taking care of family, at a training and release parties for Hello Kitty have me knackered. How are you lovelies keeping? The economy is a nightmare, it's really starting to stress me out. I know it's not anything I can control, but being the extra sensitive type, bad news really kicks me in the backside and driving about town, I see SO many business closing it really makes me wonder how far removed from the real world our statesmen/women are? How can I expect someone who makes six figures plus per diem meals, lodging, car allowances, security, staffers, etc. to understand what it means to take a train and bus to work? They are so far removed from Jane Q. Citizen it's almost like me trying to comprehend the perennial homeless people who live on the streets with signs for money. We are in two different worlds.
Enough of that, makeup, art and self worth are what get me to feel inspired. Helping people love themselves and go about the best way of feeling good is what I live for, not positions or possessions.
So, about this MAC Studio Sculpt that has all the Youtube guru's, beauty forums and websites and blogs abuzz. Find out specific details here for in depth details. I was on a few sites (three to be exact) trying to find out the level of consistency, color and finish. I could not get specifics as everyone is a bit different, and I sought specifics on: will it be as good for very fair to the very dark complexions? What type of skin can benefit best, oily, dry or combo? Does the concealer crepe into fine lines? and so on. Well, I did a test run with a sample of each. I find this to be impressive albeit day two, for those with drier skin. The concealor does not fail, but it's color range is a bit tricky, they seem to be a bit off in color and I've read this on a few other reviews.
While I like this, I don't think it's a MUST HAVE right now. So much hype goes into everything MAC releases *await my next post* that people get into a frenzy type love affair with their things and then you wonder, "Didn't this happen when MUFE HD came out? Everyone could not rave enough about HD and now, they've placed those bottles to the side with their reasons for disliking it. Cherubs, be cautious with they hype. There are so many products out there, I would hate to see people thinking they HAVE to have something when all you need you already have. Stay beautiful!

Meow for now!

Hello Beautiful,
Happy Friday, we made it *happy dance* to the weekend. I don't know about you lot; however, I have plans to simply relax, give myself a manicure, pedicure, facial the whole lot!
In watching many of my lovely Youtube Tutorials, I have found something which may confuse some. So many tutorials discuss certain catch phrases but they really don't go in to much depth on the meaning or ideaology. For example, when does one contour, highlight and blush and where? Seems like after applying foundation, concealer and blush one would have a right face. Well the truth is you apply what you need. I don't do all the highlighting, contouring and such unless it's for something quite special. The idea behind the contouring, highlighting and bronzer is usually for photos. The everday person does not need to take their face and make it three dimensional. You are already in that dimension so unless you want to add more color to your face or accentuate your features, you really don't need much more than bronzer or blusher. Too much product on anyone's face screams overkill and it doesn't look natural cos we know that with soap and water, you are in your natural state and we want to enhance that not disguise it.

Have a beautiful weekend cherubs,
