When the Alice in Wonderland palette was released, I wrote endlessly about my love of the folktale.  Now that mother is in advanced stages of a terminal illness, I reflect on things from when I was young.  The first book I was able to read from cover to cover was Alice in Wonderland.  Even the cartoon was impressive to me, moreso than Cinderella and the others.  I admit the Cheshire cat freaked me out for a long time but this film has given me carte blanche to make purchases I would not permit myself to do.  Makeup should be an investment and I've streamlined/curbed my spending and enthusiasm greatly.  I did purchase the palette, and chose to give the new primer potion "Eden" a shot.  Primers have a purpose for me.  I need them. Primers prevent my shadows from creasing, and bases help the color to "pop" or can make the difference when an unpigmented color happens.
Eden is opaque just like the original; however, this has a yellow tint.  Think of Benefit's Lemon-Aid that doesn't crease.  It goes on smooth and dries matte.  The original went on smooth, but my skin would look ashen or grey upon drying.  It worked for preventing creasing, BUT it would make shadows more difficult to blend, especially mattes.  Eden doesn't crease, and doesn't give me problems blending mattes.  I don't have the two bottles in order to compare the ingredients; however,  you can find detailed information here for current prices, locations, etc.
I did try it as a concealer for redness....that did not work well.  It will give dark skin a HUGE cast under the eyes.  Think Nicole Kidman and Taraji P. Hensen with camera flash.  Yes, which is why there is no photo of me with this.  "Why did you take the photo in flash then?"  Because that is the best way to determine if you will look a hot mess when you get photos back.  Anyone can look cute without the flash, but if an item will embarass you in a picture, one needs to know prior to placing it.  In real life, you can't tell and it does make the foundation go on smooth, but it's not worth trying with a flash or at "the club."

I made the dumb mistake of reading twits from Urban Decay and they mentioned a palette which would be released the 28th of December.  That's this Saturday!  I knew it would be the Alice in Wonderland palette, but I was hoping I was wrong.  Why?  Why must Urban Decay do this to me after the holidays?  I have been making shopping a sport.  It's been exhausting chasing all these limited edition and "spotted unicorns" all over town.  I could not believe I found Photo Ready before many of the bloggers I follow.  If they had asked  for a CP, I would have done so.  When I "make it big" I promise to send CP's to people who can't get items in their town, country, etc. (pinky swear)  So, after finding the Wet N Wild Naughty and Nice palettes, (post to follow) I am obsessed with this Alice in Wonderland palette.  Not because I need any of it, but there have been so many collaborations with designers, merchandise (Sanrio's "Hello Kitty") and many, Ungaro, did not really have meaning for me other than to "collect."  Alice in Wonderland was my favorite storybook as a little girl.  I loved the characters she came across when she fell down the rabbit hole.  I confess the Chesire Cat still creeps me out to this day, but knowing that it was all a dream was so amazing given how vivid the story was.  I have and still have those dreams which feel so real that when I wake up, I'm still a bit shook.  The palette will cost me more than the Book of Shadows II at $52.00 USD and tax!  But, if I never buy another item, I have to have this one.  I love all the palettes and shadows I have had by UD. They are very pigmented, and smooth but what's more, the palette has a pop out and mirror!  Come on, how can I ignore that?  That's extortion!  So, my last big buy (please God) will be this and since it will be at ULTA before the 1st, I'm cool to start an official "low" buy before the new year starts.  Look at how pretty this bit is..

Can you blame me for wanting this?  Sure, it's a dupe for many, many of the things that I have, but who will sell me the palette sans shadows?  Plus, it's limited edition and Sephora won't have this until after the new year, per UD's tweet!  I am so disgusted in my inability to fall for advertising; however, I have not made a purchase at MAC since the Style Black collection :)  Watch the trailer!

As I try to curb my enthusiasm for the plethora of discounts saturating the beauty industry right now, I'm doing what a lot of beauty junkies do.  I'm shopping my stash.  This means, rather than splurge on the 30% Urban Decay is having, I'm using the products from their line I have but have not used.  Not quite a project 10 pan, but in the direction of rehab per se.
I put this cream on after my moisturiser and it was like magic.  I didn't know if that's how primers are supposed to work, since I'm so incredibly oily, I keep things quite minimal on my face.  There's nothing worse than oil on top of foundation.  It makes a beautiful canvas look like cake batter with even the best of foundations.  Never mind.  I haven't had to blot as much today, just once at half ten.  It's half noon and I'm good.  Here's information from their website here.  I don't know all the rules about blogging and I know something's going down so I'm not trying to have the FTC looking for my behind for plagiarism. It makes your skin really feel soft.  I kept touching my face and looking at it.  I plucked a few chin hairs, that's how intense I was looking!  The only thing that Urban Decay ever does to upset me is....wait for it...PACKAGING!  Maybe there was directions on the box which I always through out, but I could not figure out how this thing opened.  It's so simple it's painful to admit.  See the silver bullet?  Simply twist it to open and again to close.  I know I didn't pay full price for this, but it retails for $30.00 USD.  I always make purchases during friends and family times since I won't finish this until the next.  Overall this product gets five stars, and I will repurchase (Unless the original English Ideas returns) as well as recommend this to my friends.
xoxo

Hey Gorgeous,
Happy Shopping, I hear the new primers are pretty nice, on Makeup Alley some lassies reckon the lash primer is as good as the $$$ Shiseido base.

I was perusing the urban decay website to check out their collection for the Fall of 2009 and happened upon a contest they're hosting.
Awhile back I did a review on the "pocket rocket" and it appears they are looking for more men. Well, I don't have a man who will allow me to submit him (not that I asked) but I did enjoy perusing the submissions. If you are so inclined, or want to submit your tomcat just click here and follow the simple steps. Who knows, your guy may just be the one on everyones lips...;)

Meow for now kittens,

Hello Cherubs,

I apologize for missing Monday. My mother is quite ill and my weekends are dedicated to caretaking and yesterday was pants!
So, we have a sale at Urban Decay. I also believe there is free shipping after $50.00, which is brilliant because most of the shipping costs for me lately haven't been worth the purchase. Seriously, between tax and/or shipping it better be a really good product. It's all good though because it really makes me thing about my spending and curbs my enthusiasm about all of the makeup collecting dust. I really want to host a contest, but I haven't got but a handful of subbies. Maybe each of you will just get something :)

If you missed it, I believe the Book of Shadows is back, in addition, they really do have some nice matte eyeshadows and you can always pair them with the frosts/shimmers out there. It's also a great time to stock up for those who love Urban Decay Primer potion. Here you are Urban Decay have a lovely time!

Urban Decay on Sale

Hello Cherubs, I apologize for missing Monday. My mother is quite ill and my weekends are dedicated to caretaking and yesterday was pants! ...

Hello Lovelies!

I got this in my e-mail today.

It's official, the recession is forcing marketing representatives to really come up with ideas in order to move their products. I am personally not motivated to run to the store and but this, "rocket in my pocket" but you never know what other felines and tom cats may think about this. I can't decide if it reminds me of the advertising used for catalogues, (think Hanes) or if it's that cheesy soft porn look in and on adult trade magazines. The ones with model looking like he doesn't know if he's supposed to be selling to men or women, so he's just sort of there? That's it!

You can choose from men of different styles, ethnicities and looks. How much will it cost you to have a sexy piece of man looking at you whilst prepping your pretty pucker? A mere $19.00 USD to have David, Eric, Jessie, Kirk, Doug, James, Julio and Timothy both dressed and in their undies for your viewing pleasure.

I am getting the visual of one of you sexy felines pulling out your new "rocket" from you "pocket" and purring at the photo of your stray cat and feeling like you are licking his ear and making him...I digress ;)

Good luck with that gorgeous!
