I am really impressed with the way the CB amps up the season for it's shows. I really must confess to having an addiction to the whole lot of them. Yes, Gossip Girls is one, but America's Next Top Model, The Supernatural, 90210, Melrose, et al. I love the ads with WTF? My mind goes straight to ....ah ya, there. But they incorporated Watch This Fall and it starts September 14th. I don't know why I love this show, I'm nothing like any of the characters but I find myself consumed with not only the storyline, but the clothes, the makeup and the hairstyles. Blair rocked a wicked red lip last year and I still haven't figured out a dupe.

Lest we not forget this year Jenny Humphrey will be back at Constance and will be the reigning queen. I have a feeling she will make Blair look shy. She's been having fun during her off time, she had a lot of press about her partying ways in People magazine and the clothes she wears are trendy rocker meets chic style. Observe the hair:
I read on GossipGirlInsider.com there was a casting call for Vanessa's mum. Hmm...this should be interesting. Jessica Szohr is rumoured to be dating our love-to-hate Chuck Bass (Mother Chucker)in real life. I think she's absolutely gorgeous, so good luck finding someone to fill the role.
I can't wait to see what's in store for them now that they are in college. Will this be the end of Chuck and Blair (Chair)? Will Serena have enough of Blair's jealousy? What do you think about Rufus and Lilly? We know we love it!

Beginning of the week...but alas, I am seriously looking forward to Fall. I saw one of my fave stores which opens once a year is getting prepared. It's a costume store and comes around for Halloween around mid to late August, and closes the first weekend in November. How do I know? I stock up on lashes, makeup, and other interesting apparel cos they mark it down significantly that final weekend prior to closing.
I looked for a wig this weekend that resembles the forties era, Dorothy Dandrige please. I saw a few, but will have to go back because wigs are serious business and I want to do some more research even though this wouldn't be for daily wear.
I'm trying to find more black women from that time, and how they rocked the dark vampy lips and other than finger waves, what did they do? The clothes are fierce! Pencil skirts, high heeled Mary Janes or peeped toe pumps and a nice blouse, you can customize that for work or play. Red lips have always intimidated me, but I tried it. I think it's Dita's signature:
But I was always inspired by Ms. Lauren Hill's ability to pull of bold lips before it was trendy and she embraced full lips before Angie made it "cool."

Happy Wednesday to you all! Summer is winding down, and although I am looking forward to sporting my A/W2009 vamp lips, I am really feeling the pink. I reckon it's due to a film I watched with the lovely Camilla Belle (why did I not have a clue who she was? ahem...J. Jonas and R. Pattz go girl!) and Elisha Cuthbert called The Quiet. Is that really Adriana Lima looking like Marilyn Manson? Wow, who would have thought? At first one is hard pressed to think it has to do with all the fuss about vampires and Twilight. If that is the case, then Edward and Bella had a marked interest in the fall fashion shows in London, Milan and Paris as many models sported dark lips, pale skin and the absence of brows.
Kimmy's artist used the wax you can purchase from theatrical/costume stores to block hers. You can do the same with spirit gum, concealer, glue sticks and by soaping the brow. Soaping the brow consists of taking a bar of soap, rolling a dry brow wand over it and applying the texture over the brows and following it up by using a heavy coverage foundation.
Not to fret my felines of color here's a vamp look which looks great on us.
It's all about thinking outside the box felines, no you don't have to be a supermodel and this isn't an everyday look; however, it can be fun to surprise your mate with a new look every once in a while to spice things up a bit. It also gives you the practice of applying different looks so you feel more comfortable with your makeup artistry applications. Remember, skill can be learned but creativity surrounds us from externally to internally.

I can't claim to be the Shu Expert, but I do love their Summer 2009 Pink Collection! I am sick with love for all things pink. I don't know if I was dropped on my head or got struck by pink lightning but it's a sickness. I wear black so often people think I'm in mourning, and I can't not select the color black when picking out clothes or shoes, but items such as trinkets, packaging, containers, etc. I gravitate to pink. Even my tooth brush and razor is pink by choice. I was happy when I saw Shu Uemura's site and saw all the pink! I know they get a lot of love on makeupalley but to be honest, Shu is a bit too steep for my pink wallet, but as an artist, it's nice to know what brand is "recommending" for the season. Do I follow trends? Sometimes, but I like to look at face charts or tips and tricks so that I keep my game up and it's good when your in the industry to know how certain looks were achieved for all skin tones.

It's two days until Spring begins! I'm still sporting coats, jackets, and winter clothing, but according to the calendar, we will begin spring on Friday. So, I wanted to discuss the trend we've been watching and waiting for in the cosmetics industry.
Pastels it is! I knew this was going to happen when I saw the Bobbi Brown bright palette this season was to be about color. What else could make our get-it-in-your-head-we-wear-neutrals Bobbi to come out with a collection of bright colors?
By now you've all seen the lavendar, lilacs, and pinks in MAC's line as well as the Makeup Show and IMATS.
So, you're thinking to yourself, how do I not look like this
Not to worry you pretty little head. You can rock the pastels and still be in your own comfort zone. Not everyone looks good in bright colors, so it's up to you to know how intense the color should be. Warm cats may want to go with a peachy pink rather than a bright blue based pink. Here's a good example,
One the one hand you have Rihanna rocking a cool bright pink, but to the left, still in pastel, she's sporting a warmer pink.
Another thing to keep in mind is, to focus on one feature at a time. If you are going bright on the eyes, don't also go bright on the cheeks, and lips. If you want to rock the bright lips, go easy on bright eyes. If you are King or Queen of your jungle and you choose to go all out, do it in a way not to look clownish. Anything is possible, but it's better to err on the safe side.
If you still aren't ready or suited for brights, don't focus on your face. Substitute your clothes, shoes or accessories. You can even substitute nail varnish in place, yet still be fashionable. It's all in good fun, and it's a trend, so don't invest too much as what's hot for spring may be a "not" for summer.
